The Jay Billups Creative Media (jbCM) video production team helped create five University of Colorado Health Education MOOCs featured on the Coursera, world-wide, online education platform.
MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Courses. I had the honor of being invited to attend CU's Health Education MOOC Celebration.
At the event I was struck by the depth and impact of the online courses. I've always been driven by the motto that the path to true success is to find a way to serve many people. Education is that path for Jay Billups Creative Media.

The celebration highlighted the following specializations:
Become an E.M.T.
Health care is an exciting and ever growing profession that can take you many different directions. You can apply the fundamentals you learn here about emergent patient care, stabilization, and disease processes toward becoming an EMT or further health care pursuits. In this specialization you will learn to care for stable and unstable patients before they get to a hospital, how to identify time sensitive diseases, and medical and traumatic conditions that affect both adults and pediatric patients.
People living with serious, life-limiting, chronic illness experience significant suffering. Fortunately there are new and developing treatments which may cure some and improve survival for many people living with serious illness. However, seriously ill people and their loved ones still experience many distressing physical symptoms as well as spiritual, social and psychological distress. There is much we can do to support people to live well with serious and life-limiting illness by understanding the causes of suffering, using effective communications, and incorporating careful assessments and interventions designed to address specific needs.
Your course makes me understand more about palliative care. It is my great opportunity to have a chance to study this course online, while I am in my country. Thank you for your kindness and sharing your knowledge and experience."
-H.P. (hematologist and caregiver), Bangkok, Thailand)
The courses of this specialization are designed to equip learners to manage common health conditions including asthma, allergies, diabetes, and seizures. Next they will learn to manage common behavior conditions such as ADHD and autism as well as learning disabilities and concussion. Upon completion of the specialization, learners will be ready to apply newly acquired skills in the provision of social, emotional, behavioral, and special education services. Importantly, they will also be ready to promote healthy practices such as nutrition, physical activity, and community and family participation in their own school community.
Clinical Data Science
This specialization provides learners with hands on experience in use of electronic health records and informatics tools to perform clinical data science. This series of six courses is designed to augment learner’s existing skills in statistics and programming to provide examples of specific challenges, tools, and appropriate interpretations of clinical data.
Newborn Baby Care
A newborn baby is an amazing beautiful life filled with hope. Unfortunately, many babies die or experience preventable harm even in 21st century. It is imperative that babies who are born healthy get off to a healthy start in the first month of life. There are some easy tenets of care to implement that help ensure that babies and families get off to a healthy start no matter where they are in the world. In this specialization learners will acquire the skills necessary for newborn baby care to optimize their health in the hours, days and weeks after they are born.

Dr. Whitney Barrett // Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine
I worked with Jay and his team at JB Creative Media regularly over about a 9 month period. Not being a person who is usually comfortable in front of a camera or comfortable with just about anything related to video and production I had a lot of hesitation going into it. I cannot say enough about his professionalism, his ability to meet his clients where they are and willingness to collaborate with them on their ideas and their vision for their project.
